thinking about if and how we can debrahminise yoga…how we in our different contexts can decentre and unpack brahminical patriarchy… and re-centre dalit and indigenous voices + practices… how yoga is inherently political, how our bodies are inherently political. i am deep in study for various trainings im teaching on in the coming months, but want to start creating space for a reading +discussion group/sharing platform around these topics. i know a lot of people who joined my recent ‘politics of practice’ workshop are keen to continue to learn and discuss and integrate and have a shared values community. who’s in? 📹: @kirillydawn

We gotta talk about caste y’all.

Exciting news - my newly revamped website is launching next week!
Some words on my new business direction:
𝕔𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕪 𝕣𝕖𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕪𝕠𝕘𝕒
𝕝𝕒𝕟𝕘𝕦𝕒𝕘𝕖, 𝕡𝕠𝕨𝕖𝕣, 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕔𝕦𝕝𝕥𝕦𝕣𝕖
My work aims to unpack the 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of 𝘆𝗼𝗴𝗮 with 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 through analysis and dialogue; inviting reflection, challenging assumptions, and exploring complexity.
My work is not a final conclusion; rather, it is always ongoing, expanding and evolving. I continue to learn, with history as my foundation, balancing theory and action.
We don’t know what we don’t know; 𝐛𝐮𝐭 when we know better, we do better -
This transition has required a lot of courage, hard conversations and sacrifice, but I know it has been worth it. Going through the wringer, feeling the intense discomfort, reckoning with myself and my blind spots !!!
I hold myself to high standards - this work demands nothing less.
As someone who is committed to social justice, to liberation, how can I ensure I’m not complicit in systems of oppression that remain hidden, taboo, and normalised?
The reckoning never ends, but alongside that I must remember that 𝐼 𝑎𝑚 𝑎 𝑣𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑗𝑜𝑦, 𝑜𝑓 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑦, 𝑜𝑓 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝, 𝑜𝑓 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒.
I’m excited for you all to join me on this journey, to learn and reckon together.
𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 next week to receive more insights, opinions, and resources, and to be the first to know about upcoming projects.
PS I am moving to Gadigal Country (Sydney) in a few weeks - message me if you are based there, I would love to connect! ~photo by @kirillydawn
